Example by Leadership
Desiree is a young woman graduate of Tennyson High School in Hayward California. She plans to attend UCLA in Los Angeles in the fall, majoring in Biology.
Desiree has served over 1000 hours in various non-profits and school organizations. It is common in our society to extol “Leadership by Example”. Desiree turns that phrase on its ear and provides a strong Example by Leadership.
Joining student service groups as a freshman, Desiree served as Class Vice President her sophomore year, Class President her Junior year, and as Senior, served as Student Body President and served as Student Board Member for Hayward Unified School District.
“I always felt a need to give back to my community”, says Desiree. “My ethnic group has always been labeled as lazy, ruthless, and ignorant. My peers have seen me take challenges in leadership roles. With perseverance, my experiences have inspired them to do the same.”
“The sky is the limit for this young lady and she is destined for success”, adds Monique Walton, Director of Student Activities at Tennyson High. Shares Desiree: “My involvement in service has not only improved the community, I feel I have become a better person.”
