2012 Scholarship Benefit Gala

Eat. Drink. Be Inspired! All at Our 6th Benefit Gala!

The Stephanie Brown Cadet Memorial Foundation will hold its Sixth Scholarship Benefit Gala “Eat. Drink. Be Inspired!” on Saturday evening August 4th at Bella Mia in San Jose, California. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Foundation’s Scholarship Program. The evening will feature music from longtime SBC favorites Calculated Risk, who will provide sophisticated jazz during dinner. Rounding out the fun-filled activities will be the awe-inspiring stories you will hear about this year’s scholarship winners!

2010 Scholarship Benefit Gala

The 2010 Gala was held at Fiorillo’s Italian Restaurant in Santa Clara. The event featured dancing for the first time, in addition to great food, wine, and jazz.

2009 Scholarship Benefit Gala

The 2009 Gala marked the Foundation’s first Benefit Gala in a new location. Having pushed the capacity of the beloved Caffe Riace Ristorante to the edges, the 2009 Gala was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Uplands Mansion at Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough. Building upon the Foundation’s continuing goodwill, the Gala was another success, honoring four exceptional students: Katherine Zepeda-Arreola, Gino Karlo delos Reyes, Sindy Crisostomo, and Stephanie Cortez. The Gala also saw the honoring of it’s first college student, Pyar Khatari, who had been honored with a Recognition Award in 2009.

2008 Scholarship Benefit Gala

The 2008 Gala continued the Foundation’s success string, raising over $27,000 for scholarships. Again held at the Caffe Riace Ristorante in Palo Alto, the gathered strong honored five more extraordinary students, Aaron Mendez, Allegra Bick-Maursichat, Elijah Hemphill, Pyar Khatari, and Kayla Pitre.

2007 Scholarship Benefit Gala

The 2007 Gala marked a significant milestone for the Foundation as it awarded its first Scholarship Awards. In an evening marked by fine Italian cuisine, beautiful jazz and vocals, and stirring keynotes, the 120+ gathered strong honored five extraordinary students, Luis Pimental, Chea Sayon, Jennifer Tao, Daniel Belay, and Megan Liamos. The sold-out event was attended by over 120 people and raised over $30,000 for the Foundation.

2006 Scholarship Benefit Gala

Caffe Riace Ristorante, Palo Alto, August 26, 2006

This gala was the Foundation’s inaugural benefit event. Attendees enjoyed 5-star Italian Cuisine in a beautiful outdoor restaurant in downtown Palo Alto. Called “A night under the stars”, the gala featured live music from local jazz quartet Calculated Risk, with vocals from Kyla Thomas, a presentation on the Foundation’s mission, and a keynote from the Foundation chair. MC was KBLX’s Kevin Brown. The sold-out event was attended by over 125 people and raised over $20,000 for the Foundation.

April-June 2006

In May of 2006, Stacy Walsh, a longtime friend of our namesake’s, ran a marathon to raise money to benefit the foundation. Stacy had never run a marathon before, but finished in a very respectable six hours and nineteen minutes. Stacy raised over $2,500 for the Foundation! Read more
